Holistic treatment for Intoeing

Specializing in Pediatric Orthopaedic Treatments

Intoeing, commonly referred to as being pigeon-toed, happens when children walk with their feet turned in. This is a common condition that is present from birth or may develop in young children.

Intoeing is categorized into:

  • Curved Foot (Present at birth)
  • Twisted Shin (Occurs around age 1-3)
  • Twisted thigh bone(occurs around age 3-8)
  • Family history of in-toeing and cramped position in the uterus are causes of Intoeing.

Feet shaped like crescent moons(mainly in infants), shins or thighbones that turn inward, limping, pain or swelling, and abnormal ways of walking such as tripping or unusual clumsiness are symptoms of Intoeing.

If Intoeing is left untreated, it can lead to complications like unbalanced gait, reduced athletic ability, and other foot deformities.

Intoeing usually gets corrected with minimal treatment. But in some extreme cases, the doctor conducts a detailed examination and provides casts or corrective shoes to reverse the deformity.

If the misalignment still exists, minor surgery will be done.
